Beginning with Week 2 and continuing until the end of Week 4 we will explore the idea of Native American identity. Each week I have assigned readings from the textbook, as well as online sources. There are also several webquests designed for this unit.

In 1998 Cafesociety arranged for 8 Navajo students and 2 teachers to visit the UK and work on a multi-media project called :The Identity Project. The hero's journey is a vital part of growing up and becoming a wise participant in today's society. Once we have left home and fought the prejudice and ignorance in ourselves, we can return and make decisions and choices which acknowledge a larger world. This journey can be done partially on the internet as we open doors to new places and ideas. However, it is only as we step out of our own world and into another, alien world that we come to terms with false ideas we have carried with us
